The death toll from a grenade explosion in the Belgorod region has risen to seven people, according to the 112 Telegram channel. Three people were previously known to have died.

The explosion took place on January 14th. The result was a fire and detonated ammunition stored nearby.

Initially, "112" reported that the platoon commander, senior sergeant blew up an RGD-5 grenade on the territory of a military unit. According to preliminary data provided by the Telegram channel, three people died, 16 were injured and eight more people were missing. A criminal case was initiated.

TASS wrote that the grenade exploded in the house of culture in the Tonenkoye farm, in the Korochansky district, where the military was stationed. An agency source in emergency services said careless handling of ammunition was the cause of the incident.
