The Office of the President of Ukraine accepted the resignation of Arestovich

The Office of the President of Ukraine granted the request of adviser Oleksiy Arestovich, who asked for his dismissal. Presidential press secretary Serhiy Nikiforov told Ukrainska Pravda that the corresponding order has already been signed.

Earlier, on January 17, Arestovich said that he had written a letter of resignation, citing the “fundamental mistake” he had committed as the reason for his act. He admitted that he was wrong when he said that a rocket that hit a residential building in Dnipro on January 14 was shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces, and apologized.

At the same time, Arestovich expressed confidence that his mistake would not harm Ukraine. According to the politician, criticism of him is beneficial to Moscow, as well as to the Ukrainian opposition, which thus "attacks the authorities, earning political points during the war, thinking about future elections."

On January 17, the head of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (OVA), Valentin Reznichenko , announced on his Telegram channel that the number of victims of a missile attack on a residential building had reached 44 people. According to him, five children were among the dead, the youngest of whom was not yet a year old.
