A working group has been created in the State Duma to check Russian laws for compliance with “traditional values” – Sobchak

A working group was created in the State Duma to strengthen "traditional values". Ksenia Sobchak writes about this with reference to a group member, head of the committee on family, women and children, Nina Ostanina. In addition to her, it included 22 deputies from all factions. Anna Kuznetsova, vice-speaker from United Russia, has been appointed head of the group.

According to Ostanina, the group will check the upcoming bills for compliance with Russian "traditional values". The deputies will also control the observance of spiritual and moral standards in cinema, the media, social networks, television and educational institutions. In addition, Ostanina stressed, the group will discuss amendments to ban “childfree propaganda” in the law on “LGBT propaganda”. They were rejected by the government in November 2022 in the second reading of the law.

“I am the author of the law that introduces the definition of traditional family values into the family code, and there is precisely the denial of these values, it should be administratively punishable. Or maybe criminally, ”Sobchak quotes Ostanina. The MP is a co-author of a bill on a complete ban on "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations." She called homosexuality "a kind of diagnosis" and "anomaly".
