Former mayor of Vladivostok Oleg Gumenyuk sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison in the case of bribery

The Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok sentenced the former mayor of the city, Oleg Gumenyuk, to 16 and a half years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 150 million rubles. Gumenyuk was found guilty of accepting bribes on an especially large scale, the press service of the Primorsky Territory Prosecutor's Office reports .

Gumenyuk is prohibited from holding public office for 12 years. His property and accounts for 36 million rubles were arrested as an interim measure.

The prosecution believes that, as the head of the economic department of the administration of the Primorsky Territory, Oleg Gumenyuk received bribes in the amount of 6.5 million rubles for agreeing to help two companies obtain government orders. And while working as mayor, he received 31.2 million rubles from the Necropolis funeral agency "for general patronage," according to the prosecutor's office.

Gumenyuk himself did not admit his guilt. According to him, he was slandered by businessman Sergei Sirotin, who was sentenced to four years in prison in 2022 on charges of mediating a bribe. According to Novosti Vladivostok, Gumenyuk stated this during his last speech.
