Out of 14,000 Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, only 125 have been returned – Children’s Ombudsman of Ukraine

Only 125 out of 13,899 children illegally taken to Russia were returned to Ukraine. This was announced by the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Rights of the Child and Child Rehabilitation Daria Gerasimchuk.

“It seems that this is not enough, but behind every one is the fate of a Ukrainian child, such an important child,” she stressed. Gerasimchuk also recalled that during the entire period of the full-scale war, 459 children died as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine. Another 909 children were injured.

In early January, the head of the Lugansk region, Sergei Gaidai , said that the Russians had taken 300 children from the Donbass to Moscow under the pretext of "treatment for serious injuries." According to him, Russian doctors checked boys and girls in almost every city in the occupied Luhansk region. They were delivered to Moscow with the help of special vehicles or air ambulances.
