Russian authorities want to ban debt collection from residents of occupied territories for 3 years

The Russian authorities plan to impose a moratorium on debt collection from residents of the "DPR" and "LPR", Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The ban can be established until January 1, 2026, writes RBC with reference to the amendments developed by the Ministry of Justice, which are at the disposal of the editors.

Amendments will be made to the Federal Law "On the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of individuals in the implementation of activities to return overdue debts and on amendments to the federal law "On microfinance activities and microfinance organizations"

The ban on debt collection will apply to the debt of individuals to banks and microfinance organizations. It will not apply to debts to individuals, debts on business loans and debts on housing and communal services, writes RBC.

The document, according to the publication, has already been submitted to the government for consideration. Before that, it was approved by the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Bailiff Service, as well as the state-legal department of the President of the Russian Federation.
