The Ministry of Education said that foreigners stopped adopting Russian children

Foreign adoption of Russian children in 2022 “came to naught,” said Andrei Korneev, Deputy Minister of Education of Russia. According to him, in 2022, the guardianship authorities did not issue a single permit for foreign adoptive parents to meet the child.

At a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Korneev said that this was the result of the work of both the Ministry of Education and guardianship – "everyone understands what the situation is in the world." His words are quoted by MK.

According to him, the ministry is not yet ready to terminate international treaties on the adoption of children, because they contain a procedure for monitoring children adopted in other countries.

On December 21, 2012, the State Duma adopted a bill, one of the amendments of which prohibits US citizens from adopting children from Russia.
