Five employees of IK-2 in Kalmykia were detained on suspicion of torturing prisoners. They are accused of exceeding official powers (part 4 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was told by the lawyer of one of the prisoners, Snezhan Muntyan, on the air of Gulagu.net and the commissioner for human rights in Dagestan, Jamal Aliyev.

The tortured prisoners are Dagestani Magomed Atimagomedov and Daud Kuramagomedov. In August 2022, they attacked the employees of the colony. As a result, one employee of the institution died, seven more were injured. After that, Atimagomedov's family said that he was tortured in the colony. “A person who has less than two years left in prison would not have done this just like that. It’s not out of the blue, ”said his mother, Zaira Atimagomedova.

Atimagomedov's lawyer, Aza Aliyeva , said that her client and other Muslim prisoners of IK-2 were forbidden to pray and read the Koran. In addition, Atimagomedov was forced to make confessions by beating him and dousing him with boiling water. Kuramagomedov was also tortured. Like Atimagomedov, he was doused with boiling water, after which, according to Muntyan, salt was sprinkled on the burns. Kuramagomedov also said that pepper spray was sprayed into his eyes, face and armpits.

Five employees of the colony were placed in a pre-trial detention center. According to Muntyan, confrontations between Atimagomedov and Kuramagomedov with the defendants are planned for the end of January. She also mentioned some kind of video recording: “I suppose that after all, some video recorder or some kind of outdoor video surveillance camera got footage of how these guys were mocked.”
