The Vladimir Ombudsman stated that she had not received any complaints from the correctional colony where Aleksey Gorinov was imprisoned. He talked about hunger and lack of treatment

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Vladimir Region, Lyudmila Romanova, visited correctional colony No. 3, where the Moscow Mundep Alexei Gorinov is kept. She stated that she received prisoners and none of them made written complaints. Earlier, Gorinov said that there were problems with heating, food and hot water in the colony.

The only thing Romanova mentioned was “issues of access to medical care.” According to her, this was the main theme of the prisoners' appeal. The Ombudsman stated that "some of the issues have been taken into work." Gorinov also complained about problems with medicine. In December, he fell ill, and other prisoners took him to the medical unit. Despite fever, cough and shortness of breath, he was sent back two days later. During all this time, none of the medical staff contacted him.

“He complains about the cold, hunger, lack of hot water, the inability to lie down until lights out, despite the fact that he has a fever, he is tormented by a constant cough, shortness of breath,” Gorinov’s lawyers said in December. They also reported poor heating in the visiting room, however, according to Gorinov, it was warmer than his cell.

Gorinov was convicted under the article on "fake news" about the Russian army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In July 2022, he was sentenced to 7 years in a penal colony, and in September the sentence was reduced by one month to 6 years and 11 months in prison. The reason for initiating the case was that Gorinov called the war in Ukraine a war and talked about the deaths of Ukrainian children as a result of the Russian invasion. This was the first sentence in a criminal case about “fake news”.
