On the anonymous Dvach imageboard, three sections have been blocked that have existed since the site was founded – "trap", "gay" and "yaoi". The latter is devoted to the discussion of the genres of manga and anime, which describe the romantic relationship between two men.
Dvacha owner Nariman Namazov told The Insider that he does not know why the sections disappeared. He noted that various letters with the requirements of Roskomnadzor come to the Dvacha administration all the time, it is difficult to follow them. Therefore, whether the blocking of sections is connected with the law “on the ban on gay propaganda”, he cannot say.
“We regularly receive requests from Roskomnadzor to restrict access to “adult” sections. So it might be related, I don't know. Probably <more details can be clarified> from Roskomnadzor, I didn’t delve into it, we receive hundreds of such letters a month, then restrict to one, then to another, ”Namazov said.
At the same time, there is no resource in the Roskomnadzor register, in addition, sections are blocked not only in Russia, they do not open in the EU either.
The law "on the prohibition of gay propaganda" was adopted at the end of November 2022. The document contains very vague wording. For example, it does not establish any definitions for the words "propaganda" and "non-traditional preferences". According to the current wording of the law, anyone can be punished, regardless of sexual preferences, if a person’s lifestyle does not meet the standards that the authorities publicly profess. Norms, by the way, are also not spelled out anywhere. In fact, even childfree can be fined.
