The US shot down a "Chinese reconnaissance balloon." The balloon drifted over the United States in the airspace between North and South Carolina off the East Coast of the States.
The US military spotted the balloon on February 2 over the northern states of the United States. In China, in turn, they said that it was a "stray weather balloon."
