Prosecution asks for 9 years in prison for Rusnews journalist in case of “fake news”

In the Leninsky District Court of Barnaul, the prosecution requested 9 years in a penal colony for Rusnews journalist Maria Ponomarenko in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army. About this writes "OVD-Info" with reference to the lawyer Dmitry Shitov.

The prosecution also insists on Ponomarenko's five-year ban on administering Internet resources.

The journalist was detained in April 2022 because of a post about the shelling of a theater in Mariupol. Ponomarenko was imprisoned in the Barnaul pre-trial detention center, and in July he was transferred to a psychiatric hospital. Later, the journalist was returned to the pre-trial detention center, where she opened her veins in September.

In November, Ponomarenko's preventive measure was replaced with house arrest, forbidding him to meet with relatives and correspond with them. However, at the end of January 2023, the journalist was returned to the pre-trial detention center after she left house arrest , having quarreled with her ex-husband.
