Facial recognition system to be installed at border points with China, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Poland

The Russian authorities decided to install a facial recognition system at nine border points. The tender for this was published on the public procurement website, Polygon Media drew attention to it.

830 million rubles will be spent on new video systems. They are going to be installed before November 25 at the borders with China (Checkpoint Zabaikalsk, Pogranichny, Kraskino), Kazakhstan (Checkpoint Mashtakovo, Orsk, Sagarchin), Poland (Checkpoint Bagrationovsk, Mamonovo ”) and Lithuania (Chernyshevskoye checkpoint).

It is assumed that these systems will analyze images of faces and compare them with a biometric database and a specific list (which list is not mentioned).
