RIA Novosti, in an article under the heading "Italian Prime Minister Called Zelensky's Invitation to Paris Inappropriate" writes :
“The invitation of Volodymyr Zelensky to Paris by French President Emmanuel Macron was inappropriate, said Italian Prime Minister George Meloni.
“I believe that Zelensky’s invitation yesterday was inappropriate, because I believe that our strength is in unity and cohesion,” she said upon arrival at the EU summit in Brussels.
“I understand domestic political issues, but there are times when favoring domestic public opinion risks going to the detriment of the cause, and this seems to me one of those cases,” Askanews quoted her as saying.
This is the full text of the note. And for some reason, RIA did not begin to explain what exactly in the case of Zelensky's invitation to Paris did not suit Meloni. But the French newspaper Le Monde wrote about it with the utmost clarity:
“As the Italian publications write, Meloni is unhappy that she was not included in the number of participants in the meeting.”
Macron, in response to journalists' questions about Meloni's comment, noted that he decided to invite Zelensky and Olaf Scholz to Paris, because France and Germany have a special role in the events around Ukraine: these countries signed the Minsk agreements.
