Roskosmos officially dismissed Ivan Safronov, convicted of treason, from the post of adviser to the general director of the state corporation. Roscosmos explained that such a decision was made in accordance with a court verdict that has entered into force.
As specified in the corporation, Safronov was listed as an employee of Roskosmos from the moment of detention until the entry into force of the verdict, but did not receive a salary.
Safronov was appointed to the position of adviser to the head of Roscosmos on May 18, 2020, but on July 7 he was detained.
Safronov, who was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony in the case of "treason", was transferred from Lefortovo on December 29 to an unknown destination, his supporters reported . The message also said that it is still unknown where exactly he will serve his sentence.
Earlier, the "Project" studied in detail the indictment in the case of Safronov. The publication pointed out that the entire accusation is based only on guesswork: none of the “witnesses” knows anything about the “crimes” of the journalist, almost all the information that he allegedly transmitted and which is considered “state secret” is in the public domain.
