The Turkish city of Nurdagi affected by the earthquake will be completely demolished

The city of Nurdagi in the Turkish province of Gaziantep, which suffered from earthquakes, will be completely demolished, media reports citing a statement by local authorities. Before the earthquake, about 17 thousand people lived there.

Earlier today it became known that the number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey exceeded 31 thousand people. It is also reported about the evacuation of more than tens of thousands of victims.

The search for people and the removal of rubble continues.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred on February 6. It was the deadliest earthquake in Turkey since 1939. The Turkish Confederation of Entrepreneurship and Business estimates that the earthquake caused damage to residential buildings in the amount of about $70 billion and another $10 billion was a loss of national income.

The territory of Syria was also badly affected – the country's authorities also report several thousand dead.
