Russians who lived for 4 months at the airport of South Korea due to mobilization were allowed to stay in the country

A court in South Korea allowed Russians who fled the mobilization and spent several months at Incheon International Airport to enter the country.

The media report that the court decision was made in favor of two Russians who were initially denied refugee status. They are among the five Russians who have been at the airport for about 4 months after the announcement of mobilization in Russia.

Earlier, one of those living at the airport, Vladimir Maraktaev, a student from Buryatia, said that he left home on the night of September 24 after he received a summons. Together with his acquaintances, he crossed the border with Mongolia by car, and from there flew to the Philippines, where he spent several weeks. On November 12, he flew to South Korea and has remained at the airport ever since.

In January, it became known that two Russians who, fleeing from mobilization, sailed on a boat to St. Lawrence Island (Alaska), received permission from the United States to remain in the country.
