28-year-old Idris Arsamikov was detained at the Moscow Domodedovo Airport, according to the human rights project SOS Crisis Group. Arsamikov managed to inform the project coordinators about the detention, and also that the border guards took him to the basement. According to him, he was informed that Chechen security forces had left for him.
According to human rights activists, Arsamikov flew to Chechnya from the Netherlands to attend his father's funeral. There he was detained, beaten, and then released. In his opinion, he is being persecuted because of his homosexuality. Police at Domodedovo said the detention was related to "some problems in Chechnya."
Arsamikov had previously been detained in the summer of 2018 near Grozny. He was kept in the basement and tortured, as the security forces became aware of his intimate relationship with a man. After that, the SOS Crisis Group helped him escape and emigrate to the Netherlands.
