In the coming months, the West will supply Ukraine with the same amount of weapons as in the previous year – Rishi Sunak

It is time for Western allies to double down on military support for Ukraine, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said at the Munich Security Conference. “In the next few months, together we will supply as much equipment as in the whole of 2022,” the politician promised. His speech was published on the website of the British government.

“Together we must help Ukraine protect its cities from Russian bombs and Iranian drones. And that is why the UK will be the first country to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons,” Sunak added. “To win the war, Ukraine needs more artillery, armored vehicles and air defense systems,” the politician said. He also said that last year the UK allocated 2.3 billion pounds (€2.6 billion) to help Kyiv, and this year it will allocate the same amount or more.

Sunak said the world must hold Russia accountable for the crimes committed in Ukraine and for the "terrible destruction". “We must get justice through the ICC (International Criminal Court) for their heinous war crimes committed in Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol or anywhere else,” the British prime minister concluded.

Vice President Kamala Harris, speaking at the Munich Conference, said that Russia had committed crimes against humanity in Ukraine.

Earlier in February, Sunak promised that the British would begin training Ukrainian pilots to fly modern NATO fighter jets.
