Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, known for his criticism of Ramzan Kadyrov, got in touch after almost three months of silence. On February 21, he posted a new video on his YouTube channel. Fans of the blogger write in the comments that they thought he was dead and are glad that he is alive.
The day before, Novaya Gazeta-Europe reported that Abdurakhmanov, who lives in Sweden, contacted representatives of the local Chechen diaspora. “We don’t know exactly where he is, but today he contacted us himself, called to clarify some legal issues, and allowed us to announce that he is alive,” a representative of the Chechen human rights organization Vayfond told reporters.
Abdurakhmanov, who was repeatedly threatened by people from Kadyrov's entourage and who received asylum in Sweden, disappeared in early December. Information spread through Telegram channels that the blogger had been killed. A later edition of Kavkaz.Realii reported that Abdurakhmanov was alive and was under the protection of the Swedish police. There was no official confirmation from the Swedish authorities, the blogger himself did not show himself in any way.
In February 2020, an intruder entered Abdurakhmanov’s apartment and attacked him with a hammer. The blogger managed to call the police. In the case of the attempt on the life of Abdurakhmanov, the Swedish authorities arrested two Russians, they were sentenced to 8 and 10 years in prison.
