Yanukovych’s son transferred his business to the “DPR”

The son of the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Alexander, transferred his business to the “DPR”, to the territory occupied by Russia. According to RIA Novosti with reference to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, his company MAKO Holding filed an application on January 17 to enter information into the “Russian register” of legal entities.

The application was accepted by the Interdistrict Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service No. 1 for the so-called DPR.

The company and its structures are registered on Artyoma Street in Donetsk, before that MAKO was legally located in Kramatorsk. Since 2006, the company has been engaged in the construction and management of hotel real estate, coal trading and industrial equipment. Now "MAKO" is under the sanctions of the European Union and the United States.

In December 2022, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine seized all the property of Viktor Yanukovych, including a residence in Mezhyhirya, a hotel and restaurant complex in Sukholuchya, an apartment on Obolonska Embankment, 31 million hryvnias and 84.9 thousand dollars in bank accounts, as well as 100% shares in the authorized capital of Tantalit and Dom Lesnik.

Yanukovych was President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. After the Euromaidan, he fled to Russia, in Ukraine several criminal cases were initiated against him. In 2019, he was sentenced in absentia to 13 years in prison for treason and aiding in the “waging of a war of aggression.” In 2021, he was charged with another charge of treason, in connection with the conclusion of an agreement with Russia in 2010 on the presence of the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.
