From the monument to the repressed Ukrainians in St. Petersburg removed the words “innocently killed”

From the memorial to the repressed Ukrainians on the Levashovskaya Pustosh in St. Petersburg, the inscription "innocently killed" was removed. A reader of Fontanka drew attention to this.

Initially, on the plate on the cross was written "Eternal memory to Ukrainians innocently killed." The monument was erected at the Levashov Memorial Cemetery in 2001 and is dedicated to the victims of Stalin's repressions. A Fontanka reader said that she came to the same place last March. Then the plate was intact. When asked why two words were removed from her, the cemetery worker replied: “You understand, this is not our initiative.”

Despite intensified repression, monuments associated with Ukraine still stand in Russian cities. Thus, the monument to Lesya Ukrainka in Moscow has repeatedly become a memorial in memory of the victims of the Russian war against Ukraine.
