Russian banks hit by US sanctions warned of disabling UnionPay cards abroad

Chinese UnionPay cards issued by banks subject to US and UK sanctions may stop working abroad. According to RBC, banks have already warned their customers about this.

Such warnings were sent out by Zenit, Uralsib, MTS Bank, St. Petersburg and Primorye banks.

Banks advise customers, if they are abroad, to withdraw cash or make necessary purchases, because the cards may be blocked in the near future.

The day before, US blocking sanctions were imposed against these banks.
