In St. Petersburg, 38-year-old Alexei Baranov was detained. He is suspected of setting fire to two police cars belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs – he allegedly set fire to a Hyundai Solaris and a Skoda Octavia, Baza reports.
According to the Telegram channel, the arson took place on February 20 in a parking lot on Tikhoretsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg. The channel, citing security officials, also reports that Baranov tried to set fire to a private security warehouse on Zanevsky Prospekt.
Also, according to Baza, on the day of his arrest, he intended to set fire to several police cars. With him he had bottles of flammable liquid, an action camera, a balaclava and lighters. Baranov does not agree with the war in Ukraine, which is the reason for the arson in which he is accused.
