The Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow passed a sentence on the former head of the investigation department of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Alexander Kizlyk. According to RIA Novosti, he was found guilty of abuse of power and sentenced to 10 years in a penal colony.
In addition, Kizlyk was stripped of the rank of lieutenant general of the customs service. According to investigators, the abuses of a high-ranking FCS officer caused damage of 25 million rubles.
The court also sentenced Alexei Serebro, Kizlyk's deputy, Konstantin Mishin, deputy head of the Vnukovo customs, Yuri Cherkashin, deputy head of the Domodedovo customs, and Andrey Shurygin, senior investigator for especially important cases of the Domodedovo customs. All of them were found guilty of abuse of power with grave consequences (Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to terms of five to seven years.
According to the materials of the case, in 2018-2019, thanks to the actions of the convicts, persons who illegally transported cash across the border were exempted from liability, and in addition, they were returned the property that should have been confiscated in favor of the state. In one of the episodes, the wife of the Russian ambassador to Kenya appeared: customs officers let her into Russia with $ 50,000, which she did not declare.
Kizlyk was detained in December 2019. During a search, they found €600,000, $600,000, gold bars and luxury brand watches. In 2021, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow seized the property of Kizlyk and his wife in favor of the state for a total amount of 153.4 million rubles.
