Two trains collided in Greece. 32 people died

As a result of the collision of two trains in Greece, at least 32 people were killed and 85 injured. According to Reuters, citing local authorities, on the evening of February 28, a passenger train heading from Athens to Thessaloniki crashed into a freight train at high speed.

The collision took place near the city of Larisa in the central part of the country. Several passenger cars caught fire, many victims were taken to hospitals with burns. One of the surviving passengers told Reuters that he heard a strong explosion, and the car in which he was overturned.

The governor of Thessaly said that the first four carriages of the passenger train had derailed, two of them were almost completely destroyed. According to him, the colliding trains rushed towards each other along the same path.

About 250 passengers were evacuated by bus to Thessaloniki. A rescue operation continues at the crash site.
