Prince Harry and his wife were evicted from the British residence after the release of his autobiography

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan received an eviction notice from Buckingham Palace from Frogmore Cottage, which served as their residence in the UK. This is reported by the BBC with reference to the representative of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The notice was sent back in January, just after the release of Prince Harry's autobiographical book Spare, in which he revealed many intimate and compromising details about the royal family.

In 2018-2019, the couple made a £2.4 million renovation at the estate, which was transferred to them for perpetual use by Elizabeth II. It was originally paid for with taxpayer money, but Harry later reimbursed the costs. In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as members of the royal family and moved to live in California, USA. Frogmore, however, remained at their disposal.

British tabloids write that the house will be handed over to Harry's uncle, the Duke of York. He also fell into disgrace and was stripped of royal privileges after a US woman accused him of sexual assault. According to the tabloids, King Charles III intends to significantly cut the content of his younger brother, so he may have to leave his current residence, Royal Lodge, and move to a more modest house.

Frogmore Cottage with 10 bedrooms, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, was built in 1792. According to the BBC, members of the Russian royal family who managed to escape after the 1917 revolution lived in this house for some time.
