FSB detained a resident of Moscow for donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The FSB of Russia, in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained a resident of Moscow on suspicion of high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The reason for initiating the case was that she allegedly provided financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by TASS with reference to the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia. The video of her detention is published by RBC.

According to the publication, the woman was detained when she tried to leave Russia. The Lefortovo Court of Moscow sent her under arrest for two months. The punishment under the article on treason is imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years. The human rights project “The First Department” emphasizes that this is the first known case when a case of treason is initiated because of the provision of financial assistance to Ukraine.

Russia has already initiated several criminal cases of treason related to alleged cooperation with Ukraine. So, in mid-January, in the Tver region, the FSB detained a resident of Tver, who allegedly was going to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and fight against Russia. In early March, a pensioner was detained in the Khabarovsk Territory, who, according to the investigation, planned to transfer information about military facilities in the region to Ukrainian intelligence.
