TV presenter Volodymyr Pozner, at an event of the online university Ubiquity University dedicated to the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, said that he was ashamed of the propagandists and their lies:
“I am ashamed of the representatives of my profession, I am ashamed of what they are doing, of the lies that are presented as the truth, of propaganda in the worst sense of the word. I shouldn't say this, but I will. I am an atheist, but if there is a hell, then journalists will go there. They deserve to burn in hell for what they do."
Speaking about the politics of Vladimir Putin, Posner said:
“The reason for Putin's actions is very simple: he does not want Ukraine to join NATO. Whether I agree with Putin does not matter. This will be just my personal opinion. The facts are important. The window of opportunity that existed in the country three years ago has been closed. That's what's important. <…> My personal opinion is that the initiative is in the hands of the United States, because President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine today are 100 percent dependent on US support. And if U.S. officials say to Zelensky: “The time has come for negotiations and we need to sit down at the negotiating table to find a way to solve this problem,” then he will do just that.”
Before the start of the war, Pozner (in an interview with Yuri Dudyu) said that he considers propagandist Artem Sheinin to be his comrade and devoted person, but it’s hard for him to look at his work in the frame. Posner said that they do not discuss their political views with each other. “I can’t be ashamed of others,” Posner emphasized. “But does it bother me? It's embarrassing," he said.
