Sky News: Iran secretly delivered ammunition to Russia

Iran has secretly supplied Russia with a large number of bullets, rockets and mortar shells for the war in Ukraine, Sky News reports , citing a security source.

According to the publication, in January, two cargo ships under the Russian flag left the Iranian port for Russia through the Caspian Sea, carrying about 100 million bullets and about 300,000 shells. Presumably, these were the Musa Jalil and Begey ships.

The source of the publication claims that Russia paid for the ammunition in cash. He said that the ships had about 200 shipping containers with weapons. The interlocutor of the publication expressed confidence in his assessment of the amount of ammunition transported. “Two hundred containers on two ships are capable of carrying that amount of ammunition,” he said.

At the same time, the publication notes that it is not possible to independently verify what the ships were transporting.

Sky News reached out to the owner of the ships in Russia for comment on the claims, but received no response. The Russian Defense Ministry and the Iranian Foreign Ministry have also not yet responded to a request for comment.
