In Petrozavodsk, on suspicion of treason, 18-year-old Andrey Vasyurenko, a student of the local branch of the St. Petersburg University of the Maritime and River Fleet named after Admiral Makarov, was detained. This is reported by the Telegram channel From Karelia with Freedom.
According to the channel, Vasyurenko is suspected of allegedly trying to persuade the Russians to go over to the side of Ukraine and fight against the Russian Federation. The security forces claim that the young man is a supporter of the independence of Karelia.
On March 8, 19-year-old activist of the Civil Alliance of Russia Nikita Klyunya was detained in Sortavala. Oleg Filatchev, chairman of the organization, said that on the night of March 8, an FSB officer called him and said that Klyunya was suspected of involvement in sabotage on the railway and was previously charged with article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in a terrorist community).
