The Armed Forces of Ukraine have identified a Ukrainian soldier who is being shot in a video that appeared online on March 6. This is a fighter of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Chernihiv region Alexander Matsievsky.
As they say in the message of the department of the territorial defense forces "North" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on December 30, 2022, Matsievsky, together with his colleagues, entered the battle with the Russians near Soledar. After that, nothing was known about their fate, the connection with Matsievsky disappeared. How he was captured is unknown.
Matsievsky was recognized by his mother and son, his identity was confirmed by other military personnel of the Terodefense. Suspilne published an interview with his mother.
Matsievsky before the war worked as an electrician in Kyiv. When the war began, he signed up as a volunteer in the territorial defense of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. His body was handed over to his relatives as part of the exchange of the dead.
Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine erroneously stated that the military man in the video was called Timofey Shadura, he was a soldier of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrozhsky. Shadura has been missing since February 3, 2023, and his family assumed that he was in the video.
On March 6, a video circulated on Telegram channels, which allegedly shows the moment of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russian soldiers. In particular, the video was published by the Trukha Telegram channel, which has more than 2 million subscribers.
In the video, an unarmed man stands at a dug trench (“beds”) and smokes. The voice-over says "take it off". The man says: “Glory to Ukraine,” and they shoot him with machine guns.
