The defendants in the “Mayakovsky case” were charged with a new charge for poetry with a call not to take summons from the military registration and enlistment office

The defendants in the Mayakovsky case were charged with a new charge, according to the Telegram channel of their supporters. Artem Kamardin, Yegor Shtovba and Nikolai Daineko were charged with two articles of the criminal code – paragraph "c" part 2 of Art. 282 and part 3 of Art. 280.4 on public calls for the implementation of activities directed against the security of the state, committed by an organized group.

As Pavel Chikov, the head of Agora, notes , this is the first criminal case in Russia under a new article on public calls to carry out activities directed against the security of the state.

The decree, the screenshots of which Chikov cites in his post, says that Kamardin and two accomplices organized and held a public reading of poems dedicated to mobilization in Moscow in September 2022. The investigator emphasizes that the organization of the criminal group was manifested in a clear distribution of roles and strict subordination to Kamardin of all ordinary members of the group, writes the head of the "Agora".

The resolution says that during the mobilization Kamardin called in verse to “observe the rules” and “not to take” subpoenas from the hands of representatives of military registration and enlistment offices, “not to sign” documents on receipt of subpoenas and “not to appear” at military registration and enlistment offices, and the accomplices repeated after him and raised hands up.

Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code was introduced into the Criminal Code in July 2022 as part of a package of new offenses of espionage, treason and cooperation with foreigners.

Kamardin and other defendants in the case were detained in September 2022. The next day after the next Mayakovsky Readings, where the poets read their poems, the security forces broke into the apartment where Kamardin lived with friends. Everyone who was there was severely beaten, and sexualized violence was used against Kamardin under video recording. Later, the torture video was shown to his girlfriend Alexandra Popova. The poets were forced to apologize for their poems on video.
