The Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives allocated 28.8 million rubles for the production of the "ethno-opera" "Prince Vladimir". The main role in the opera will be performed by the singer Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov). This is stated on the Foundation's website.
The performance will be dedicated to the life of Prince Vladimir, the baptism of Rus' and also "the gathering of Russian lands," the description of the project says. The performance will be based on The Tale of Bygone Years. “The music written by the composer Igor Matvienko will allow you to reach the most callous hearts, awaken in them a sense of belonging to the great events of the past and draw parallels with the present day, when Russia, embodying the stronghold of traditional values, opposes itself to the hegemony of Western culture, expressed in the ideology of society consumption," the statement said.
Shaman regularly performs at many pro-Kremlin concerts, he participated with the song "I am Russian" in a rally-concert in Luzhniki on February 22, where Vladimir Putin was also present.
The application says that the opera will be performed in Moscow and in the annexed Crimea, in the city of Sudak.
