The Ukrainian Orthodox Church was given until March 29 to release the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The leadership of the national reserve "Kiev-Pechersk Lavra" demanded that the monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate leave the territory of the Lavra until March 29. This is stated in the letter of the acting. director of the reserve Alexander Rudnik in the name of the UOC-MP, which is posted on the website of the reserve.

Rudnik said that the UOC needs to form a commission to carry out the transfer and acceptance of state property.

As stated in the letter, the monastery and the reserve concluded in 2013 an agreement that the UOC can use the buildings and other property of the reserve free of charge. But the interdepartmental working group, created by decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, “established a violation by the monastery of the terms of the agreement on the use of state property.”

Earlier, Ukraine returned the main temples of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to state property. The UOC-MP was deprived of the right to use these temples.
