A resident of St. Petersburg, Sergey Kulik, went to the front, like many others, having fallen under a “subpoena raid” in October 2022 – he was stopped on the street by police officers, handed a subpoena and ordered to appear at the military registration and enlistment office the next day. On October 26, he came, he was immediately called, ignoring documents about health problems, the presence of two young children, one of whom suffers from a genetic liver disease and shortly before that was sent to a dispensary in connection with suspected tuberculosis. Thus, Kulik himself can be infected, which is dangerous for others.
Novaya Gazeta writes about the case, citing lawyer Maxim Grebenyuk. The family was able to challenge the decision to conscript in court, but even this did not help – on December 8, 2022, Sergei was sent to the combat zone. Two weeks later, on December 21, 2022, the Krasnoselsky District Court adopted a ruling on preliminary protection measures and forbade the command to send Sergei to his duty station.
Kulik's wife Anna personally handed over the ruling to Sergei's military unit, but the unit commander simply refused to comply with the court's decision. Two weeks later, on January 5, Sergei was wounded. He still has not been released from the unit.
