Dagestan ex-policeman sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorist attacks in Moscow metro

The Second Western District Military Court sentenced Gazi Isaev, a former policeman from Dagestan, who was found guilty of complicity in organizing terrorist attacks on the Moscow metro in March 2010. According to TASS, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

In addition, the court exacted 17 million rubles from the convict as compensation. Isaev was found guilty under the articles "terrorist act", "banditry" and "participation in an organized criminal community".

According to investigators, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kizlyar district of Dagestan, police colonel Isaev, was a member of the Caucasus Emirate group banned in Russia. Using his official position, he supplied the group with information, and also drove the suicide bomber along with an explosive device to the bus station in Kizlyar, from where she went to Moscow.

Isaev was arrested in November 2020. He did not admit guilt. According to the ex-cop, the case against him is based on the testimony of two people who were convicted of terrorism with his participation as a police officer.

A double terrorist attack was committed on the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow metro on March 29, 2010. As a result of explosions at the Lubyanka and Park Kultury stations, 39 people were killed and more than 100 were injured. Magomedali Vagabov, who was also called one of the leaders of the Novokostek Jamaat terrorist group, was recognized as the organizer of the attacks. He was killed by security forces in 2010. Another alleged organizer, Umalat Magomedov, was killed in 2013.
