Group of foreigners suspected of working for Russian special services detained in Poland

A group of foreigners who are suspected of spying for Russia have been detained in Poland. This information was confirmed to the BBC by the Polish government.

Local radio station RMF FM claims that the group consists of six people. These people allegedly installed hidden video cameras at transport hubs to monitor the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. They were mainly interested in sections of the railway in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, including in the vicinity of the Jasionka airport near Rzeszow. According to the radio station, the detainees also planned acts of sabotage.

BBC clarifies that Rzeszow airport is used by military aircraft arriving from the US and EU countries.

At the end of February, it became known that the Polish authorities had charged a Russian citizen permanently residing in Poland with espionage.
