Paintings by artist Elena Osipova will be checked for “fakes about the army”

The paintings by the artist Elena Osipova, which were confiscated at the “PEACE Art Protest” exposition in the Yabloko office in St. Petersburg, will be checked for “fakes about the army”. According to Sota, a comprehensive psychological and linguistic examination will be carried out on them. It is expected to end in August 2023.

According to the police, the paintings (or rather, the text inscriptions on them) may contain "false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation", in connection with which a check is being made "for the presence of signs of a crime under part 1 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ".

Elena Osipova is a well-known St. Petersburg activist who regularly takes part in protests. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she has been repeatedly detained for anti-war actions. Osipova is called "the conscience of St. Petersburg." For 20 years she has been protesting against wars and the actions of the Russian authorities.

The Italian deputies awarded Osipova the title of honorary citizen of Milan as "a sign of solidarity and closeness to a woman who is a symbol for the citizens of Russia."
