Zhirinovsky’s jacket put up for auction for 250 thousand rubles

The red jacket of the founder of the LDPR party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, was put up for auction, the initial price was 250 thousand rubles. The lot was published on the Literary Fund website.

“Good condition, traces of use. The presented lot was presented by V. V. Zhirinovsky to TV presenter Alexander Gordon during the broadcast of the television program Politika in May 2014.

The description says the item is collectible. The Literary Fund also noted that "similar lots" – Eduard Limonov's jacket and Peter Mamonov's concert suit – were sold for 1.7 million and 300 thousand rubles, respectively.

In 2022, after Zhirinovsky's death, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the politician's prophecies were based on knowledge and understanding of the situation. The president did not quote the specific words of the founder of the Liberal Democratic Party, but Zhirinovsky argued back in 2021 that the next year would not be peaceful, hinting at a possible outbreak of hostilities in February 2022.

Zhirinovsky died on April 6, 2022 at the age of 76. He contracted the coronavirus in early February, was transferred to a ventilator against the background of pneumonia, and on February 26 he was put into an artificial coma. Member of the same party Alexander Pronyushkin claimed that Zhirinovsky died on March 25, without leaving a coma. According to one version, his body was kept in the morgue for two weeks in order to “show farewell to Putin,” since no one can approach the president without observing a 14-day quarantine.
