In the Goryachiy Klyuch of the Krasnodar Territory, the funeral of Wagner PMC fighters took place, despite the ban of the city administration. The local Telegram channel Goryachiy Klyuch claims that hundreds of local residents and visitors came to the cemetery in the village.
On March 18, the head of the municipality, Sergei Belopolsky, said that he did not want to turn the resort city into a mass grave site for mercenaries, as the public did not like it. On the same day, a video with threats against the Goryachiy Klyuch administration appeared in one of the Telegram channels associated with the Wagner PMC.
The cemetery in the village of Bakuskaya is a traditional burial place for PMC fighters. At the end of January, The New York Times wrote that there were at least 170 such graves in this cemetery.
In December, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC Wagner, had a conflict with the authorities of St. Petersburg, who refused to bury a PMC fighter in a plot for military personnel. Ultimately, Prigozhin got his way and the fighter was buried in the military section of the Beloostrovsky cemetery.
