The Russian state online publication Ukraina.ru (part of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency) reported on its Telegram channel:
“They write to us:
"Intense aroma and taste like real bread."
In Kyiv they began to sell a "bread product" from the stale remnants of unsold bread. There has been talk of a possible shortage of bread in Ukraine since the beginning of the year.”
The message is illustrated by a short video showing the page of an online store, which offers a certain “Bread product Kyivkhlib 500 g” at a price of 7 hryvnias ($0.19).
What kind of store this is, Ukraina.ru does not say. But the design of the page is quite recognizable: it is an online supermarket Cooker . But there is no “bread product” on the website of this store. Here are frames from the video:
And here are screenshots of the real Cooker online store:
There are a total of 5 products in the "Grey and rye bread" section on the store's website. And "Ukraina.ru" added the sixth – the same "bread product".
There is nothing similar in the product catalog of the Kyivkhlib company, which allegedly produces this ersatz bread. Journalists from the Ukrainian online publication StopFake contacted Kyivkhlib and one of its branded stores; they confirmed that there had never been such a product. As StopFake notes, at the end of February, the chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denis Marchuk, said that there is no shortage of bread in Ukraine, but its price may rise.
