A resident of Simferopol was sentenced to 12 years for treason. He was accused of passing data to the Ukrainian special services

A court in the annexed Crimea sentenced Stanislav Stetsenko, a resident of Simferopol, who was accused of transferring data to Ukraine. According to RIA Novosti with reference to the regional department of the FSB, he was found guilty of treason and sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony.

The verdict was passed in December last year and has already entered into force.

Stetsenko was detained in June 2021. According to the investigation, with the help of a special antenna and receiver, he collected information about the flights of Russian military aircraft in Crimea and passed it on to the Ukrainian special services. For this, Stetsenko allegedly received $1,300.

Krym.Realii, citing data from Ukrainian human rights activists, reports that since 2014, when Russia seized the peninsula, at least 16 people have been convicted in Crimea on charges of espionage or sabotage.
