In Germany, a native of Russia was fined € 1,500 for a T-shirt with the letter Z

The district court of the German Wiesbaden fined a German citizen who came from Russia for €1,500 for a T-shirt with the letter Z. According to FAZ, a man went to work in it.

The 49-year-old resident of Wiesbaden worked as an electrician in Walluf. He came from Russia to Germany in 1992. In the courtroom, he said that the main source of information for him was the Russian media. The man believed that the Nazis were in power in Ukraine. According to him, a friend from Russia brought him a T-shirt with the letter Z. He wore it to work in protest against the Ukrainian flag that his employer hung on the company building.

The man said that he was not aware of the fact that he had committed a crime, and also regretted his act and trust in the propaganda media. The funds paid to them will be transferred to the non-profit initiative Deutschland hilft, including helping Ukrainians affected by the war. It is a criminal offense to publicly display the Z, the symbol of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in Germany. Despite this, the court proposed not to open criminal proceedings if the defendant pays the fine on time.
