Kommersant: up to 100 thousand passengers did not receive money from airlines for flights canceled during the pandemic

Russian airlines have not yet returned money for tickets to 10-100 thousand passengers of flights canceled during the pandemic, the Russians turned to the Ministry of Transport with a request to extend the vouchers expiring in the spring. This is stated in the appeal of the All-Russian Association of Passengers to the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev, Kommersant writes .

Also, passengers in the letter, as an alternative, offer to provide carriers with money from the budget for a refund. The delay lasted three years, but many never received the money. The initiative to unite passengers was supported by Aeroflot and tour operators. According to the publication, the latter's debt to citizens is estimated at 1.5-10 billion rubles. Airlines may have a similar debt, or even higher.

Passengers are currently unable to receive a refund for an unused voucher, nor can they use the voucher to purchase tickets as it has expired.

The head of the organization, Ilya Zotov, confirmed to Kommersant that the letter was sent, according to him, we are talking about more than 10 thousand passengers with expired vouchers. A source close to the Ministry of Transport said that in fact “this figure is ten times higher”, about 100,000 passengers are waiting for a refund.
