Russian military personnel are being massively delayed or cut salaries and other promised payments, says Nestka. Having studied the correspondence in the VKontakte groups devoted to payments to the mobilized, the journalists found complaints from military relatives from 52 Russian regions, as well as Crimea.
The servicemen and their relatives claim that they receive sums many times less than promised. There are reports of no payments for three months. All categories of employees face similar problems: contract soldiers, mobilized and volunteers. In addition, some wives of servicemen complain that they are forced to transfer money to their husbands for expenses, since in the army they are not even provided with good nutrition.
The head of the Union of Committees of Soldiers' Mothers, Valentina Melnikova, believes that delays in salaries are associated with bureaucracy.
“About 80% of requests to us about this: a person is attached to one unit, but fights as part of another. <…> If these people were there before, if they are known, as in the case of contractors, they can check something there. If it's just a name on the list, as is the case with the mobilized or the volunteers, there is confusion. We did not have so many people involved in hostilities before.”
