RBC: Online cinemas lost half of Hollywood content in a year

Over the year, the number of films and series by the largest Western film studios in the leading Russian online cinemas decreased by 1.5–2 times. Such calculations were carried out by the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily at the request of RBC.

The agency analyzed the libraries of films and series on the Kinopoisk, Evie, Wink, Okko, Kion and Premier platforms. It turned out that at Kinopoisk, Hollywood content was almost halved: from almost 2,000 to just under 1,000. Wink had 2.3 thousand major projects in March 2022, and in 2023 there are about 1.2 thousand of them left. Of the platforms studied by TelecomDaily, the departure of Western film studios had the least effect on Okko: the amount of Hollywood content dropped by about a third over the year, from almost 3,000 to just under 2,000.

The total number of films and series available to users on the Evie platform has decreased by 47%. At the Kion service, the total number of projects decreased by 40%, from 12.3 thousand to 7.4 thousand. The number of foreign projects decreased by 36%, from 7.8 thousand to 5 thousand. At Okko, the service library decreased by only 13% (from 17.9 thousand to 15.6 thousand), the library of foreign content – by 21% (from 12 thousand to 9.5 thousand).
