Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland cleared of domestic violence charges

The Orange District Attorney's Office has dropped charges of domestic violence against Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. According to Deadline, citing a representative of the prosecutor's office, the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence.

“I always knew these accusations were lies and I never doubted that today would come. I am glad that this case was dismissed, but at the same time, I am still deeply shocked by the terrible lies that were spread about me during this process. Most of all, I am disappointed that so many people jumped to conclusions without knowing the facts, based solely on the word of an embittered ex-partner trying to circumvent justice and get me “cancelled”,” Roiland wrote on his Twitter.

The fact that one of the creators of Rick and Morty was charged became known in January 2023. The application was submitted in 2020. It is known that Roiland is accused of domestic violence with mutilation and illegal restriction of freedom. He faced up to seven years in prison. In January, Adult Swim, which airs Rick and Morty, ended its partnership with Roiland.
