The son of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Artem Uss, escaped from house arrest in Italy. According to La Repubblica, the Russian businessman broke the electronic bracelet, removed it and fled from an apartment near Milan, where he was under house arrest. Uss was to be extradited to the United States, where he could face up to 30 years in prison on charges of circumventing sanctions and money laundering.

On March 21, the Milan Court of Appeal approved the extradition of the businessman.

Artem Uss was arrested in Italy at the request of the United States on October 10. The US Department of Justice accuses him of smuggling oil, exporting military technology from the US and money laundering. The accused pleads not guilty. At the trial, he said that he had never been to New York, and the last time he visited the United States was 25 years ago at the age of 14.

Russia also demands the extradition of Artem Uss. He has been charged with money laundering on an especially large scale by an organized group.
