AGN “Moskva”: A criminal case was opened against economist Konstantin Sonin about “fakes” about the army

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on "fake" about the army against economist, professor at the University of Chicago Konstantin Sonin. This was reported by the City News Agency "Moscow" with reference to an "informed" source.

According to the publication, the reason for initiating the case was three posts on the economist’s Telegram channel, which “contain information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.” It is not specified which publications are in question.

Sonin in 2013-2014 served as vice-rector of the Higher School of Economics, was the scientific director of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, was a member of the Science Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. In the summer of 2022, he was fired from the HSE. Sonin now lives in the United States, he is a professor at the University of Chicago and co-founder of a joint undergraduate program at the Higher School of Economics and the New Economic School.

On March 24, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put on the wanted list the political scientist Abbas Gallyamov, recognized as a "foreign agent". He told The Insider that he does not know what kind of case was brought against him, but suggests that it is about "fake" about the army because of his posts or statements.
